Sony Alpha wins big at EISA Awards – a9 crowned best camera

Sony a9 was named EISA’s best camera of 2017-2018. Sony walked away with the most awards in the Photography expert group, winning six out of the 19 categories. Canon followed with three awards.

EISA, which stands for the European Imaging and Sound Association, represents 53 consumer electronics magazines from around the world.

In the lens category, two of Sony’s full-frame G Master (GM) lenses took top honors – the FE 70-200mm F2.8 GM OSS in the professional compact system camera lens category and the FE 100mm F2.8 STF GM OSS in the compact camera system lens category.

These wins are on the back of last year’s EISA Awards where Sony a7S II, Sony a6300 and Sony Cyber-shot RX1R II won two camera categories and FE 85mm F1.4 GM won in the professional compact lens category.

So far, three out of six Sony’s G Master lenses have won at EISA, and of these, a few won’t be eligible for the award until next year due to being released later.
